JOHN, C.M.G., J.P., F.R.G.S., F.G.S., F.L.S., of Hay- street, Perth, Western Australia, member of the Legislative Assembly for Bunbury, first colonial treasurer and premier, under responsible govern- ment, of Western Australia, and one of the representatives of that colony at the National Australasian Federal Convention, formerly commissioner of Crown Lands and surveyor-general of Western Australia, b. 22nd August, 1847 ; 7n. 29th February, 1876, Margaret Elvire, elder daughter of Edward Hamersley, Esq. of Pyrton, near Guildford, Western Australia, B.A. (Trinity College, Cambridge), brother of the late Hugh Hamersley, Esq. of Pyrton Manor, co.
