Chadvick is a barrister-at-law and solicitor of Toronto, and has been lay delegate to the Synod of the Diocese of Toronto on several occasions, and is a member of the chapter of St. Alban's Cathedral. He was gazetted Ens'gn 2ud Battalion Queen's Own Rifles, active Militia, SOfh November, 1866; lieutenant, 31st July, 1868; captain, 4th June, 1870; major, 29th January, 1876, and is now retired with that rank. He i.s the aulhor of a valuable genealogical work on the Otitarian Families, and a copious history of his own family. Hiiunof. Tills family is a cadet branch of the Chad- wicks of liatlinaril (sep Bueke's Landed Genfri/, CoorER-CHADWiCE of BaJUnaril). Family tradition derives this laiiiily from co. York, and the first ancestor in Ireland is sup- posed to have been an ofllcer in CroniweH's Dragoons. An ancient record of arms which apparently belonged to him, states that "He is kro^vn by the name of Chnclwict, a very antient and worthy family cut of Yorkshire in England."
