Contrepicqué: m. ée: f. Countergirded, counterpricked, counternipped.
Contrepicquer. To returne gird for gird; to giue a nip for a nip; or, one pricke for another.
Contre-pied. That which we call Counter in hunting; whence; Tenir contrepied à. To set, or hold his foot against another mans, thereby to stop him from going any further; to crosse, or impeach all he may the designes, or enterprises of another.
Contrepleige: m. A Countersuretie; one thats bound to saue a suretie harmelesse.
Contrepleigement: m. A counterband; or, the securitie giuen to a suertie.
Contrepleiger. To saue a suretie harmelesse by counterband, &c; To giue him a countersuretie, or other securitie.
Contreplié: m. ée: f. Bent, bowed, or foulded backe; made straight thereby.
Contreplier. To bend, bow, or fould backe; to make, or set straight by such a bending, &c.

The backe stitch, or quilting stitch; also, a quilt, counterpoint, (quilted) couering; also, a crossing, difference, opposition; also, a ground, or plain-*song (in Musicke.) By a quilting, with quilt stitch, or in a quilted fashion; also, backward and forward, interchangeably; now one way then another; also, crossely, thwartly, oppositely, contrarie-waies.

Quilted, wrought with the backe stitch; also, interchanged, set backeward and forward; crossed, stood against, opposed, or in opposition with. I'ay la peau toute contrepoinctée de coups. Contrepoincter. To quilt, to worke the backe stitch, or worke with the backe stitch; also, to interchange, or set backeward and forward; also, to crosse, thwart, oppose vnto, stand opposite against, bee in opposition with.

Contrepoint; & Contrepointer; as Contrepoincte; & Contrepoincter. Contrepointerie: f. The shop of a Quilter, or Counterpoint-maker.
Contrepois: m. Counterpois, equall weight; also, a ground, or plaine-song, in Musicke. Bailler contrepois. To counterpoise, balast, make of euen or equall weight. Marcher à contrepois. To walke formally, or by line and leuell; to proportion, or measure out his steps.
Contrepoison: m. A counterpoison, antidote, medicine, or preseruatiue against poison.
Contreporteur: m. as Bisoüart (So tearmed, because he carries his packe, or burthen before him.)
Contrepotencé: m. ée: f. Counterpotencie (a tearme of Blason.)
Contrequarre. as Contrecarre. Contrequerant: m. A riuall, competitor, concurrent.
Contrequictence: f. A counter-acquittance.
Contrerepliqué: m. ée: f. Replied againe, or against.
Contrerepliquer. To replie againe, or against.
Contrerolle: m. A controlement, or contrarolement; the copie of a roll (of accounts &c;) a Paralell of the same qualitie and content, with th' originall; also, a controlling, or ouerseeing; and, th' Office of a Controller, or ouerseer; also, a Controller, or ouerseer.
Contrerollé: m. ée: f. Controlled, ouerseene, obserued; also, the copie whereof is taken, and kept.
Contreroller. To controll; obserue, ouersee, spie faults in; also, to take, and keepe a copie of a roll of accounts; to play the controller anyway .
Contrerolleur: m. A Controller; obseruer, ouerseer; properly, an Officer, that takes notes, or keepes a roll, of another Officers accounts, thereby to discouer him if he do amisse.
Contrerolleurs des Aides. Controllers of th' Aides, looke that the Esleus, Assessors, Collectors, and Receiuors of Subsidies doe their dueties; of all the particulers whereof they must euerie yeare send a roll into the Chamber of Accounts.
Contrerolleur de l'Audience de France. The Controller of the Chancerie attendant on the kings person; vnto whom les,
Contrerolleurs des Chanceleries (whereof there is in euerie Court of Chauncerie one) send halfe-yearely a particular account of the reuenue of the Seale receiued in their seuerall places.
Contrerolleurs du Domaine. Controllers of the Kings Demaine; one established in euerie seat of ordinarie Receit for the Demaine; who is to assist at the said Receit; at the making of leases of farmes; and at the sales of wood, wine, corne, hay, fish, &c, got in the Kings lands; and is to take notice of all escheats, dueties, and rights of Seigneurie, due, or occurring thereby; and keepes a reckoning of all works, reparations, almes, costs of suit, and other charges, defrayed by th' ordinarie Receiuors: Of all which he makes a roll, and sends it vnto the Treasurers generall, who therby keepe in awe the said Receiuors.
Contrerolleur general de l'Artillerie. The Controller generall of th' Ordnance; next in place, and degree vnto the Lieutenant: he keepes a Register of all munition that comes into, or goes out of, the store; and Inuentories (deliuered vnto him by the Warden generall) of all that remaines in particular Fortresses, &c; and certifies them, with his controlement of them, euerie yeare, into th' Exchequer.
Contrerolleur general du Domaine. One established in euerie generalitie by Henry the third in the yeare 1581, and suppressed again by himselfe in the yere 1584.
Contrerolleurs generaux des finances. One in euerie generall Receit, who lookes that the kings money be payed ouer by the particular Receiuors (or farmers) vnto the generall one; to which end they are to bring vnto him the others acquitances, which if they omit, or slacke, he informes the Treasurers generall who the fault is in. The money being paied, he keepes one key of the chest wherein tis layed, and the Receiuor generall (in whose house it stands) another; this vntill, amounting vnto a round summe, they both together see it conueyed vnto th' Exchequer. Of all which, as also of euery sort of coyne so conueyed, and of the charge of leuying, and conueying it, he is to send a roll, or Inuentorie into the Chamber of Acccount.
