should beware, and of which the author has come across several examples in private collections, is that founded on the original in the Ambras Collection, Vienna. This particular "pattern" of sham fluted armour was probably manufactured in Milan. Here the fluting of the surface is divided at given intervals by embossed rope-pattern bands, as shown in our illustration (Fig. 1538).
