VIII.
THE POPE.
A Novel. By an Old Author in a New Walk.
In three vols., post 8vo.

It is impossible to read these volumes without forming a high opinion of the Author's talents and accomplishments. He is a sound and excellent scholar; possessed of extensive and various knowledge, the fruit both of reading and observation, and in particular thoroughly conversant with the literature and arts of Italy in its second Augustan age, the sixteenth century. He appears to have such a command of his materials, and uses them with so much fulness and freedom, that we feel he is drawing from the abundance of his own stores, and treading ground familiar to him.

IX.
In three vols., post 8vo,
HAWKWOOD; A ROMANCE OF ITALY.

"This work bears the air of much care and research, evincing talents of the highest order. The characters are vigorously conceived and boldly sketched, the descriptions spirited and effective, the dialogue graceful and brilliant."-[Britannia.

X.
In one volume,
PETER PAUL RUBENS, HIS LIFE AND GENIUS.
Translated from the German of Dr. Waagen,
By R. R. Nobl, Esq. Edited by Mrs. Jameson.

"We cannot too earnestly recommend this work to the study of the artist and connoisseur; it is beyond all comparison the most complete and perfect analysis of the mind and works of Rubens which has ever been given to the public. Modern times have produced no volume which deserves to be more prized and studied by painters who would learn the road to success, or attentively read by those who would acquire a correct and refined taste in art."--Britannia.

XI.
ARUNDEL;
A TALE OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION.
By Sir Francis Vincent, Bart

"We can confidently recommend this book as the best historical novel that has proceeded from the press since Sir E. Bulwer withdrew-we trust temporarily-from this class of composition."--Examiner.
