Hunter and Bistre accompanied him
to the station in the Inn carryall and
said good-by on the platform. Bistre
was wise, and from the moment
Miles had started to throw things into
the big yellow bag he had scented a
parting. And he had haunted his
friend like a shadow from that moment
to the last, his brown eyes
watching every movement and his
stump of a tail wagging on the
slightest provocation.
"I'm mighty sorry to be leaving you, old fellow," Miles confided to
