period of eighteen months from date of provisional appointment. If successful, and if satisfactorily reported upon by their respective Commanding Officers, the provisional appointments may then be recommended for confirmation.

Officers who fail to qualify, as above shall be recommended by District Commandants to be retired, having failed to qualify under Section 15 DA.


SYLLABUS OF EXAMINATION.

For Appointment and Promotion of Officers and Non-commissioned Officers.

I.—Examination up to the Rank of Second Lieutenant.

1. Boards will be appointed as directed in U.T. Regulation 33.

2. Examination will be practical and oral only.

3. At the conclusion of the examination the Board will forward to the Battalion Commander the result of the same, showing the names of all the candidates in the order in which they passed for each rank.

4. The results of the candidates who pass will be published in Battalion Orders.

5. In recommending successful candidates for Commissions as 2nd Lieutenants, Battalion Commanders will certify on the C.M. Form A 22 that the provisions of Universal Training Regulation 33 have been complied with.

6. The subjects of the examination for the various ranks and the maximum marks allotted to each will be—

(а) Regimental Duties (50 marks) for ranks of Colour-Sergeant and 2nd Lieutenant.

(b) Drill (100 marks) for all ranks up to 2nd Lieutenant.
