The records vouching the grants, patents, &c., and directing to the rolls, are thus referred to, viz.: Berm. Turr., or T. B. 49 Edw. III. No. 149, signifies that in Bermingham Tower, the roll of the 49th year of King Edward III., contains such a grant; and 9 Car. I. 3a p. f. 28, signifies the 9th year of Charles the First, the third part on the face or front of the roll, the 28th strip or membrane; and d. signifies dorso, or the back of the roll; and so of every other reign. Where the grant is dated in one year and the reference to another of the reign, the year of the grant is thus marked (12.) (16.)
