But the picture is called by Pere Dan in his Tresor des Merveilles de Fon- tainebleau (1642), portrait of a Duchess of Belle Feronniere, Leonardo dt Vinci, Louvre. Mantua, and it has lately been shown that Leonardo really painted (1500) a portrait of Isabella d'Este Gonzaga, Marchioness of Mantua.
