Sisygambia, mother of Darius, prostrates herself before Hephsestion, mistaking him for Alexander. Eecogniziug her error, she attempted an apology, when the King interrupted her, say- ing, "You are not deceived. He is another Alexander." An excel- lent landscape painter, especially of river scenes, which he painted from a floating studio. Left many etchings.
