MAYER, FRANK B., born in Baltimore,
Md., in 1827. Portrait and genre painter,
pupil of Alfred Miller in Baltimore, and of
Gleyre and Brion in Paris. Travelled and
sketched in Europe and the United States,
and in 1851 made some valuable studies
among the Dacotah Indians of Minnesota.
Painted in Paris in 1864-69. Studio in Annapolis.
