The license to elect a bishop in the room of Gilbert bears date ist March 1304-5 '5'^, and 1305 John de Lakgton, the clmncellor of England^ was 33 Edw. I. elected 5th April 1305, and obtained the royal assent to his election ytli May^'. He had the temporalities granted to him 16th July'^-. He made his profession to ai'chbishop Robert, and was consecrated by him 19th Sept. following ^^. He died 17th Juno^^ 13375 and was buried in his cathedral against the great south window at the end of the cross aisle. On 22nd July 1337 the license to elect a successor to John de Langton issued ^\ 1337 Robert de Stratford, archdeacon of Canterbury and II Ed. III. chancellor of England, received the royal assent to his election 24th August 1337^^, and his temporalities 21st Sept. 97 He was confirmed 23rd Oct. and conse- crated 30th Nov. following ^s, jj^ djyd ^^ j^jg nianor of Aldyngbourn 9th April 1362-'^. His will, dated 9th April 1362, was proved 26th April 1362^ The license to elect a bishop on his death issued 25th April '. 1362 William de Lenne, alias Lulimere, dean of Chi- ld Ed. III. Chester by papal provision, was consecrated about mid- summer in 1362. He made his profession at Lambeth 1 8th Aug.^, and the temporalities were restored to him 1 2th Oct. following*. He was translated to Wor- cester in October 1368, and
