FIFES AND DRUMS
75

Sadly, sternly, we unsheathe it,
    Now for Liberty.

Hands around the world, brothers!
    Hands around the world!
Fling the married colors out,
    Never to be furled;
Till the power of Light prevailing,
Vict'ry's heights in triumph scaling,
Sees the power of Darkness, failing,
    Down in ruin hurled.

Laura E. Richards.
