Dear Mr. Hartert;—

Your letter of the 3d of January just received. And I have also to report that by the same mail Dalton & Co. inform me that they have received your payment of £118.15.0 through Messrs. Henry Schröder & Co. of London. Please accept my thanks for your promptness.

I am very glad that you were pleased with the birds fordwarded becase I am now sure you will like those to follow for the reason that I am trying to exercise even more care than in the preparation of the first lot.

By my second shipment (now on the way) you will receive several additional specimens of Chrysotis bodini also a larger series of Saltator orenocensis L. ofr.
