This chart requires the same size space as Fig. 249 or Fig. 250. Just because of the larger horizontal scale and smaller vertical scale the growth of the telephone industry appears much less rapid than would be thought from observing Fig. 250. Both charts are correct. The different visual impressions are caused only by the arrangement of scales. The proper selection and interpretation of scales plays an important part in graphic work
