Since 1880 he has been geologist in the United States geological survey at Washington, D.C. He is the author of Quantitative Classification of Ingenious Rock. Cross, Wilbur Lucius, educator, author, was born April 10, 1862, in Mansfield, Conn. Since 1902 he has been professor of English in Yale university. He is the author of Development of the English Novel. Crossland, Edward, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born June 30, 1827, in Hickman county, Ky. He was a member of the Kentucky state legislature in 1857; and was judge of the court of common pleas in the first district in 1867-71. In 1871-75 he was a representative from Kentucky to the forty-second and forty-third congresses as a democrat. Crpsswell, Andrew, clergyman, author, was bom in 1709 in Charlestown, Mass. He was the author of The Apostle's Advice to the Jailor Improved; and Heaven shut against Arminians and Antinomians. He died April 12, 1785, in Boston, Mass. Mich. Croswell, Edwin, journalist, author, was May 29, 1797, in Catskill, N.Y. For thirty years he was a well-known journalist of Albany, N.Y.; and changed the Albany Argus to a daily journal. For many years he was state printer of New York. He died June 13, 1871, in Princeton, N.J. Croswell, Harry, journalist, clergyman, author, was born June 16, 1778, in West Hartford, Conn. He was an episcopal clergyman and rector of Trinity church of New Haven in 1816-58. He was the author of Young Churchman's Guide; Manual of Family Prayers; Guide to the Holy Sacrament. He died March 13, 1858, in New Haven, Conn. Croswell, Henry, clergyman, founder, author, was born Jan. 16, 1778, in Hartford, Conn. In 1809 he founded a federalist newspaper in Hudson, N.Y. In 1814 he was ordained in the protestant episcopal church; and filled the pastorate in Trinity church of New Haven for more than forty years. He was the author of Young Churchman's Guide; Manual of Family Prayers; and Guide to the Holy Sacrament. He died March 13, 1855, in New Haven, Conn.
