Edwards, Henry Waggaman, lawyer, congressman, governor, United States senator, was born in 1779 in New Haven, Conn. In 1819-23 he was a representative to the sixteenth and seventeenth congresses; and in 1823-27 he was United States senator. He was a member of the state senate in 182829; speaker of the Connecticut house of representatives in 1830; and the tenth governor in 1833-34 and 1835-38. He died July 22, 1847, in New Haven, Conn.
