Clute, Henry Alson, farmer, merchant, soldier, statesman, was born March 24, 1840, in Wayne county, N.Y. His ancestors settled on the Hudson river soon after the settlement of New York. During the civil war he served for three years in the second Missouri cavalry or Merrill Horse. In 1897 he was elected a member of the Michigan state legislature from Marshall.

Clymer, George, manufacturer, inventor, in 1754 in Burks county, Pa. Among his inventions was a pump; and he also made an improved form of the Earl of Stanhope's iron press. He received a gold medal from the king of the Netherlands; and a valuable present from the emperor of Russia. He died Aug. 37, 1834, in England.

and forty-sixth congresses. He died June 12, 1884, in Reading, Pa. Clymer, Meredith, physician, author, was born June 6, 1817, in Philadelphia, Pa. In 1871 was professor of mental and nervous diseases in Albany medical college; surgeon in the United States volunteeers; and later was consulting physician for the Philadelphia hospital. He was the author of Diseases of the Respiratory Organs; Pathology, Diagnosis and Treatment of Fevers; Physiology and Pathology of the Nervous System; Palsies and Kindred Disorders; Ecforty-fifth
