In 1878 he began the practice of law; and in 1881 was a member of the North Carolina state legislature. During General Shafter's expedition to Cuba he was sanitary expert and inspector on the west coast of Florida; in 1899 was detailed to organize the quarantine service in the island of Porto Rico: and in 1900 was detailed upon the staff of Major-General Leonard Wood as chief quarantine officer of Cuba. He is a member of the association of military surgeons; a member of the University club and various other societies and organizations. In 1896 he was appointed coadjutor Roman catholic bishop of Kansas City, Mo., with right of succession, and consecrated titular bishop of Pinara. Glenny, William, soldier.
