Snavely, who continued to be pastor until 1 9 1 1, he being succeeded by Rev. Alexander Scott, who has been pastor since 19 12 . During the pastorate o f Rev. P. P . Sirawinski the congregation purchased the inter­ est of Rev. I. H . Torrence in the church building, thus freeing themselves from debt. In 1900 the church w as remodeled and the tower raised. The church property is valued at $25,000. and the parsonage, which w as pur­ chased some years ago. is valued at $2,500. In the fall o f 1 9 1 1 the church building was repainted and rqxapcred and electric lights in­ stalled. In the year 19 14 a pipe organ, valued at $2,500. W'as installed, one h alf of the cost being paid by Andrew Cam cgic and the rest of the money collected by the people. This organ w as dedicated Ju n e 7, 19 14, Rev. J . B. Stine, D. D ,, district superintendent, preach­ ing the dedicatory sermon. In the early part of the year 19 13 an oflkial hoard w*as organized according to the pro­ visions of the church discipline, the brard consisting of the trustees, stew'ards. and deserving o f great credit for the work which has hccn done and for the manner in which the M aster’s Kingdom has been ad ­ vanced in tlut |H>rtioti of the town. They have ever been true to the motto placed upon the church building when it was erected: " E v e r welcome to this House o f God arc strangers and the poor.”

S t. Jo h n 's Efaftgelical Lutheran Church T he German speaking portion of the L u ­ therans organized into a separate body after the division in 1856, when the new church was built on Pine street. T his new organizati<m piircliascd the old church building on East Market street in 1858 and repaired it, and fur many years have used it as a place o f worship. Rev. WiUiam E y e r was first called to the astoralc, and scr>’cd until his death in 1874. n 18 7 s Rev. J . W. E arly became pastor o f this church, in connection with Mahoning and I,azarus Clttirches, in other parts of the coun­ ty. H e w as succeeded, about 1885, I. R . G roff. M r. G roff was succeeded by Rev. V). H. Fogleman. Subsequent pastors have l>ecti Rev. George W. Frilsch and Rev. W. M. Geiger.

Em anuel Exangelicat Church Ser*ices w*ere held at inter*als in DanviUe hy the pastors of the Evangelical denomina­ tion previous to 1867. In that year I!. A . Stokes w as appointed to serve the mission at this place. H e remained two years and estab­ lished a small congregation, but did not suc­ ceed in building a house o f worship. scr*ices being held in Thompson’s Hall. In 1869 K cv. R. H. Davis was made pastor, and his efforts were o f great benefit to the little band of O iristians constituting the local representatives o f tliis denomination. I l e succeeded in collecting a sufficient sum to warrant the construction o f a church, and in the fall o f 18 7 1 the present frame building, situated at the com er o f East Front and Iron streets. w*as dedicated, having been com­ menced in 1869.
