Here is an example of long and short lines rhyming with each other and producing a singularly happy effect by their deviation from ordinary metre :— “ ধনি রঙ্গিণী রাই। বিলসহি হরি সঞ্জে রস অবগাহই | হরি সুন্দর মুখে । SPA CHE pee নিজ মুখে ॥ ধনি রঙ্গিণী ভোর। ভূলল গৌরবে কান করি কোর ॥ ছহু' ছুহু' গুণ গায় । একই মুরলীরন্ধে। ছুজনে বাজায় ॥ কেহ কেহ কহে মৃছু ভাষ। নারীপরশে অবশ পীতবাস ॥ কেহ কাড়ি লয় বেণু। রাসে রসে আজ ভূলল কাণু॥' (The lovely Radha, steeped in sweet emotions,

him in the delight of her heart. They praise
each other with sweetest words and play together
on the same flute. Some of the maidens whisper
softly “how charmed is Krisna by his lady’s touch !”
