I would like to marry. [ſighing.]

So you ſhall. [a pauſe] It is proper for every body to marry.

Amelia.

Why, then, does not Mr. Anhalt marry?

Baron.

You muſt aſk him that queſtion yourſelf.

Amelia.

Baron.

Amelia.

Baron.

Certainly.

Amelia.

And won’t you be angry?

Baron.

Undoubtedly not.

Amelia.

Why, then—you know you commanded me never to diſguife or conceal the truth.

Baron.
