An Irish poet and dramatist ; b. at Drog- heda, county Meatli ; was patronized by the Earl of Chesterfield when lord-lieu- tenant of Ireland, in 1745; but he had better have stuck to bricklaying, for he died in great want in a garret belonging to the master of the Bedford Coffee- house, by whom he had been assisted.
