Native Name:Hiri-turiti.



A very large tropical Asiatic genus, of which one only is found in New Zealand. D. Cunninghamii is a tufted epiphyte with masses of cylindrical white roots and slender stems growing on trunks of trees. Throughout the Islands as far south as Stewart's Island. Hook. fil. It grows near the top of Rangitoto and also at the Great Barrier Islands, Auckland Harbour. It flowers in December.
