UNDAUNTED by the successful hostility of the Legislative Council, the Franchise department of the W.C.T.U. redoubled its efforts. Mrs Sheppard still remained at the helm, and was ably assisted by the district and local superintendents, viz., Miss Strange, Invercargill; Miss Nichol, Dunedin; Mrs Ward, Kaiapoi; Miss Bignell, Hokitika; Mrs Plimmer and Miss Dalrymple, Wellington; Mrs Troy, Napier, and Mis Daldy, Auckland.
