Mr Saunders and others, however, provided weightier metal, and his attack failed. In the passage of the Bill through the Committee stage Mr Fish was joined by Mr Carncross and Mr Blake, and the trio shewed much ingenuity in their endeavour to twist the interpretation clauses in such a manner as to nullify the intention of the Government to immediately enfranchise women.
