trance, and made her confess her artifices; they found provisions concealed in her bed; they saw the dress which she were when she personated the devil, the hangings of her bed, and the various means she made use of to deceive the people. Those who were esteemed the wisest among the people were shocked at being made such dupes. Some were anxious that she should be burned, others that she should be put to death in a different way. The ecclesiastical authorities interfered, and she was consigned to prison, where she spent the remainder of her days.
