levied and gathered at the Feaft of St. Martin in
Winter every Year, till now late that divers People
of the faid Counties, within the Province aforefaid,
have withholden the fame Thraves, whereof the

1 faid Mafter and Brethren have no fufficient nor co-

venable Remedy at the Common Law, to the great
Damage of the faid Hofpital, and open Subtraction
of the Suftenance of the faid Mafter and Brethren,
if Remedy be not for them provided, as Complaint
was thereof made in the faid Parliament
" ' (2) The Remedy

The King confidering the Premifles, of the Affent which the and Requeft aforefaid, hath ordained and ftablifhed, Mafters ofSt - That the faid Mafter and Brethren, and their Sue- L *™'l % £°£ ceffors for the time being, may levy, gather, and [ recover their take the faid Thraves within the Province aforefaid, Duties, in the Places where they ought of Right, and were wont, after the Cuftom and Ufage had in the fame Places heretofore. (3) And alfo that the fame Maf- ters and Succeflbrs for the time being fhall from time to time have Actions by Writs or Plaints of Debt or Detinue at their Pleafure, againft all them and every of them that detain the fame Thraves fo of Right due to the faid Hofpital, or any Part of them, to recover the faid Thraves againft them, and every of them, with their Damages in this Behalf. ' II. Provided always, That the Parties with whom a Remedy for the faid Mafter and Brethren, or their Predeceffors, the Proprietors be accorded for fuch Thraves by Compofitions made which have com- and fealed betwixt them, fhall of no more be charged ^"jj^ than is comprifed within the fame Compofitions, for Brethren," "" the PoiTemons that the faid Parties had at the Time of the making of the aforefaid Compofitions.'
