(3 ] And for that the faid Paflage from Bercot aforefaid to the faid City of Oxford, is againft the Stream, the Barges, Boats, Lighters or other VefTels, muft of Necefllty in fome Places and at fome Times be haled up by the Strength of Men, Horfes, Winches, Engines or other Means in that Behalf .convenient; Be it therefore enadted by the Authority of this prefent Aft, That it .fliall and may -be lawful to and for T'le Boatmen, .Watermen, Boatmen, Bargemen and other Helpers of them, in convenient Places, to have and ufe Land™o hire"" Winches, Ropes and other Engines, and with the fame by Strength of Men and Horfes or either of them, sheifiBoats, &c. going up the Land or Banks near the faid River or Pa(Tage, through the faid Paflage, without the Hinder- ance.
