II. Be it therefore enadled by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent Penalty upon of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in Parliament afiembled, and by the Authority of =i'o"/*"'"g . the fame, That from and after the firft Day oi May, which fhall be in the Year of our Lord one thoufand m ^i^'"^ ^^^ fix hundred ninety-five, if any Perfon or P.:rfons whatfoever fliail, at any one Time or Payment, exchange, th'jnijjjjoingj^ lend, fell, borrov/, or buy, receive or pay, any broad filver Money or filver Money undipped, of the Coin iHak'sP.C, of this Kingdom, for more in Tale, Benefit, Profit, or Advantage, than the fame was coined for and ought 376. by Law to go for, be lent, fold for, borrowed or bought, received or paid, fliall forfeit the Sum of ten Pounds for every twenty Shillings that fhall be fo exchanged, lent, fold for, borrowed or bought, received or paid, and fo in Proportion for any greater or leffer Sum; one Moiety thereof to Kis Majefty, and the other Moiety to the Perfon who fhall fue or inform for the fame, to be recovered (with Cofts of Suit) by Adlion of Debt, Bill, Plaint, or Information, wherein no Privilege, Protedfion, or Wager of Law fhall be allowed, nor any more than one Im.parlance. And for the better preventing the clipping, diminifhing, or impairing the current Coin of this King- Punidiment for ■ dom, be it further enadfed by the Authority aforefaid. That if any Perfon whatfoever fliall buy or fell, and buying or felling knowingly have in his Cuilody or PofTeflion, any Clippings or Filings of the current Coin of this King- Clippings, &c. dom; he fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit the faid Clippings or Filings, and alfo the Sum of five hun- dred Pounds, one Moiety to His Majefty, and the other to the Informer, to be recovered as aforefaid, and fhall be alfo branded in the Right Check with a hot iron with the Letter R. and until Payment of the faid five hundred Pounds fliall fuffer Imprifonment. V. And be it further enacted.
