And whereas for preventing all Miftakes or Abufcs whi< h might hinder the ready Application of the aforefaid Money to the Proprietors, and others concerned in the Stock of the African and Indian Company of Scotland, conform to the faid Article, t'n made in the laft Seflion of the laft Parliament of Scot/and, intituled',- A, mingihePayn tms out of the Equivalent to the African Company, wherein it was enacted, That the Director:, i African and Indian Company of Scotland fhould make up Accounts of the Sums advanced bv the Propri- ( etors of the faid Company, and Debts due to (a) the faid Company, on the firft Day ot-May then next, , ;.*' ^ " as therein was prefcribed ; and in like manner by another Ad of the faid Parliam nt ofScoileti , d- - ed, Act concerning the publick Debts, the Payments to be made on account of the publick Debts oi Scot- land, were adjuftcd ; as in and by the faid Treaty of Union, and fcvcral Ads before recited or mentioned (amongft other Things therein contained) Relation being thereunto feverally had, may more fully appear. And whereas the faid Sum of three hundred ninety-eight thoufand and eighty-five Pounds ten Shillings, . was paid for and on the Part of England to the Commiffioners of the Equivalent in Scotland, purluant to the aforefaid Articles, and confiderable Sums were by them ifl'ued out according to the fame, and the above recited Ads of Parliament of Scotland, but by Experience it was found that fome further Direc- tion was yet neceflary for the better Application of what remained of the faid Sum unapplied, and all other Sums which were or might become due by virtue of the Agreements aforefaid, and for the more effectual attaining the Ends mentioned in the faid fifteenth Article of. the Treaty and Acts above reci- ted ; and therefore an Ad was made and pafl'ed in the Parliament of Great Britain in the fixth Year of 6 Ann - c ' 2 4- her faid late Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Ac~t for the further directing the Payment of the Equivalent Money, containing Powers and Diredions, as by the fame, Relation being thereunto alfo had, may more fully appear. And whereas by an Ad of Parliament of Great Britain, made in the tenth Year of her™ A ™s c - a5, faid late Majefty's Reign, (amongft other Things] for obviating Doubts concerning certain Payments in Scotland, it was enaded, That the Fees, Salaries, and other Charges allowed, or to be allowed by her Majefty, her Heirs or Succefibrs, for keeping up the Courts of Seffion and Jufticiary, and Exche- quer-court of Scotland, were and might be chargeable upon any Part of the Revenues of Cuftoms and Excite of Scot/and, preferable to all other Payments whatfoever, (the Charges of Management excepted) but fo as not any way to prevent any Application of the Excrefcence out of the faid Cuftoms and Ex- cife appointed by any former Law, as by the fame Ad (Relation being thereunto had) may alio more fully appear. And whereas an Ad of Parliament of Great Britain was made in the twelfth Year of her 12 Ann, ft, 2. faid late Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Ac! to difcharge and acquit the Commiffioners of Equivalent for the 1 - Sum of three hundred eighty-one thoufand five hundred and nine Pounds fifteen Shillings and ten Pence Half- penny by them duly ifjued out of the Sum of three hundred ninety-eight thoufand and eighty-five Pounds ten Shil- lings, which they received, reciting that the Commiffioners for difpofing the faid Sum of three hundred ninety-eight thoufand and eighty-five Pounds ten Shillings, and all other Monies which fhould arife to Scotland upon the Agreements in the faid Treaty of Union, or the major Part of them, purfuant to fe- feveral Commiffions from her Majefty, had well and duly iffued and paid the Sum of three hundred eigh- ty-one thoufand five hundred and nine Pounds fifteen Shillings and ten Pence Half-penny, as direded by the Laws in that Behalf, in manner therein fet down, (videlicet) Towards the Lofs which private Perfons fuftained by reducing the Engllfl) Money then in Scotland to the current Rate in England, the Sum of three thoufand and feventeen Pounds eighteen Shillings and nine Pence; for recoining the Scots and fo- reign Money, and reducing it to the Standard of the Coin of England, the Sum of forty-nine thoufand eight hundred eighty-eight Pounds fourteen Shillings and eleven Pence one fixth Part of a Penny; to- wards Payment of the Stock, Intereft, and Debts of the Indian and African Company, the Sum of two hundred twenty-nine thoufand fix hundred and eleven Pounds four Shillings and eight_Pence ; towards the Charges of the Commiffioners, Secretaries and Accountants of the two Treaties of Union, the Sum of thirty thoufand four hundred ninety-eight Pounds twelve Shillings and two Pence ; towards Payment of the firft Clafs of t'.e civil Lift, the Sum of twenty-feven thoufand five hundred fifty-three Pounds feventeen Shillings and nine Pence one third of a Penny ; towards Payment of the fecond Clafs of the civil Lift, the Sum of four thoufand fix hundred fifty-five Pounds and fix Shillings ; towards Payment of the firft Clafs of the military Lift, the Sum of fourteen thoufand one hundred eighty-eight Pounds and eight Pence ; towards Payment of the fecond Clafs of the military Lift, the Sum of fourteen thou- fand four hundred fifty-eight Pounds two Shillings and eight Pence and five fixths of a Penny ; for the Fees and Salaries of the Servants of the Commifiion till the fourteenth of March and thirtieth op-April then laft paft, the Sum of five thoufand four hundred and thirteen Pounds eleven^ Shillings and four Pence ; for the neceflary Charges of the Commifiion, and for defending of Law-fuits where the Titles of Parties were not clear (thofe Charges preceding the fix and twentieth Day of March then laft paft) the Sum of two thoufand two hundred twenty-four Pounds fix Shillings and ten Pence one fixth of a Penny : And it was thereby declared, That the laid Commiffioners of the Equivalent fhould be acquitted of the <?c. 13 s 'fe piyi ' dred feyenty-five Pounds fourteen Shillings and one Penny Half-penny, being the Balance of the faid c three hundred ninety-eight thoufand and eighty-five Pounds ten Shillings then remaining in their Hands, together with what other Sums were or mig'.it become due and payable to them, to fuch Dies, and for Vol. V.
