' ^' IS/HEREAS divers Controverfies and Difputes have arifen between the Clothiers and Makers of ■« Yy Woollen Goods and the Manufacturers employed by them, concerning the Length of the Warp- "* ingBars, and the Uncertainty of Weights by which Wool, Yarn and other Materials ufed in the manu- '•* facturing or making up of Woollen Goods have -been delivered out to the feveral Workmen employed ' therein :' Now for the better Regulating of the faid Manufacture, and the Quieting or more fpeedy De- termining all Difputes which may happen for the future, Be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Ma- jefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this Tne Length of p re fent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the firft Day of am^Tl"™™™ 7 une one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-feven, it fhall not be lawful for any Maker of mixed, medley be ufed in mixed, or white Cloth to ufe or caufe to be ufed, any Bars, called Warping Bars, but only fuch which fhall be of mc-dley or white the Meafure and Length hereafter appointed ; that is to fay, Every long Warping Bar fhall be in Length Cloth. three Yards and three Inches, and no more ; and every round Warping Bar fhall be four Yards and four ' Ae i> J^ ai f Km °f Inches round, and no more; the faid three Inches on the long Bar, and the faid four Inches on the round t'o'ced ir^aGa ^ ar ' being iii lieu of the over Meafure ufually allowed in Cloths ; and alfo that the Thrums at the End of s. c. ,33. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That every Maker of fuch Cloth or Goods mixed to be given out w ; t h Wool fhall give out all Wool, Yarn or other Materials for fuch Manufacture by Weight, after the 16 f 'trTlb K- ate °f fifteen Ounces to the Pound, and fhall receive back the fame by the fame Weight without Fraud ' or Deceit, -upon Pain of forfeiting and paying the Sum of five Pounds for every Offence contrary to the true Meaning of this A£t. ■No Clothier to III. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That no Clothier or Maker of Woollen Cloths, ufe any Ends of Druggets or other Woollen Goods, or Goods mixed with Wool, fhall ufe or caufe to be ufed any Ends of ""* a ™> ^ c . by Yarn, Wefts or other Refufe of Cloths, Drugge s or other Woollen Goods, or Goods mixed with Wool, up again. Flocks and Pinions only excepted, by working the fame up again into any Sorts of Goods whatfoever, upon Pain of forfeiting and paying for every fuch Offence, contrary to the true Meaning of this A£i, the Sum of -five Pounds. Profecutions, ] V. And be it enacted, That all Profecutions for Offences contrary to the true Meaning of this Act fhall .•how to be heard, ^g heard and determined by two or more juftices of the Peace for the County, Di virion or PI ice where fuch 'Offence fhall be committed, upon Information given upon Oath within three Calendar Months after fuch Offence committed ; and fuch Juftices are hereby authorized and required to examine, hear and determine the fame ; and upon every Conviction for fuch Offence to iffue their Warrant or Warrants to levy fuch Pains or Penalties by Diftrefs and Sale of the Offender's Goods and Chattels ; one Moiety thereof to the Ufe of the Informer or Informers, and the other Moiety to the Ufe of the Poor of the Parifh where fuch -Offence or Offences fhall be committed ; and for want of a fufiicient Diftrefs to commit the Offender or Of- fenders to the County Gaol for any Time not exceeding the Space of three Months, or until Satisfaction be made by fuch Offender or Offenders. ■How Difputes V. And be it enacted, That all Difputes and Demands relating to Work, Wages or Damages between srelating to Wa- an y Clothier or Maker of Woollen Goods, or Goods mixt with Wool, and any Weaver or other Perfon or ges or Damages p er f ons employed in fuch Manufactures, fhall be heard and determined by two or more Juftices of the Peace for the County, Divifion or Place where fuch Difpute or Demand fhall arife, who are hereby required and and authorized, upon Complaint to them made, to fummon the Parties, and to hear and examine upon Oath, and adjudge fuch Satisfaction, and to give fuch Cofts and Damages to the Party aggrieved, as in their Dif retion fhall feem reafonable, and to iffue their Warrant or Warrants to levy fuch Cofts and Damages by Diftrefs and Sale of the Goods and Chattels of fuch Perfon or Perfons, who fhall refufe, for the Space of ten Days, to pay fuch Cofts and Damages by them fo adjudged ; and for want of a fufHcient Diftrefs, to commit
