' was amongft other Things enacted, That for and during the Term of feven Years to commence and ' be accounted from the twenty-fifth Day of March in the Year of our Lord one thoufand fix hundred ' and ninety-fix, and no longer, there {hould be charged, levied, and paid unto his faid late Majefty, his ' Heirs and Succeflbrs, for and upon every Dwelling- houfe inhabited, which then was, or that thereafter ' fhould be ere£led within the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, or Town of Berwick upon
- Tweed, the annual or yearly Sums therein mentioned ; that is to fay,
' For every fuch Dwelling-houfe inhabited, then erefted, or which £hoiild thereafter be erefted, within ■' the faid Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, or Town of Berwick upon Tweed, the yearly Sum of ' two Shillings, ' And for every fuch Dwelling-houfe inhabited, having ten Windows, or more, and under the Num- ' ber of twenty, the Sum of four Shillings yearly, over and above the faid yearly Sum of two Shillings. ' And for every fuch Dwelling-houfe inhabited, having twenty Windows, or more, the yearly Sum of ' eight Shillings, over and above the faid yearly Sum of two Shillings. < ' ■ « Which faid Sums of Money were, by the faid k&, direfted to be charged upon, and paid by the Inhabi- t tants or Occupiers of fuch Dwelling-houfes, and not the Landlords who lett or demifed the fame, and J were to be raifed, levied, collefted, anfwered, and paid unto his Majefly, at fuch Times, and in fuch J Manner and Form, and by fuch Ways and Means, and under fuch Penalties and Forfeitures, and applied J to fuch Ufes and Purpofes, as are mentioned and prefcribed in the faid Aft : And whereas by one other S & g'WiU. 3. ' of her faid late Majefty Queen Anne, (intituled. An A5i for continuing the Duties upon Hoiifcs, to fccwe ' a yearly Fund for circulating Exchequer Bills, ivhereby a Sum not exceeding fifteen hundred thoujand Pounds is ' intended to he raifed for carrying on the War, and other her Majeflys Occafions) the faid Rates and Duties ' upon Houfes, grantedand continued by the feveral Afts before recited, were made perpetual for the Ufes ' and Purpofes therein mentioned, fubjeft to Redemption by Parliament, and divers Provifions and Direc- ' tions are contained in the feveral before recited Afts, for railing, levying, collefting, and paying the faij ' Rates and Duties, and for applying the fame to the Ufes and Purpofes fpecified in the faid Acts : And S Anns, c, 4. ' whereas by an Aft pafled in the eighth Year of the Reign of her faid late Majefty Queen Anne (intituled, ' An ASt for continuing Part of the Duties upon Coals, Cnlin and Cinders, and granting new Duties ujtsn Houf:s ' having tiveniy Windows or more, to raije the Sum of fifteen hundred thoufand Pounds, by way of a Lottery, for ' the Service of the Tear one thoufand feven hundred and ten) it was, amongft other Things enaiSed, That for ' and during the Term of thirty-two Years, to be accounted from the twenty-ninth Day of September one ' thoufand feven hundred and ten, there fliould be charged, raifed, colleftcd, levied, and paid unto her Ma- ' jefty, her Heirs and Succeffors, for and upon every Dwelling-houfe inhabited, that then was, or there- ' after fliould be erefled.or built within the Kingdom of Great Briiain, having tv.'enty Windows, or more, ' and under thirty Windows, the yearly Sum of ten Shillings ; and for every fuch Dwelling-houfe having ' thirty Windows, or more, the yearly Sum of twenty Shillings: Which faid new or additional Duties, as ' to fuch Houfes as are in England, JFalcs, or the Town of Berivick upon Tweed, were directed to be paid ' by the refpeflive Occupiers or Inhabitants of fuch Dwelling-houfes, over and above the feveral Duties ' amounting to ten Shillings per Annum, chargeable upon Houfes there, by virtue of former Adts of Parlia- cOco. An AM for redeeming the Fund appro- ' priatcdfor Payment of the Lottery Tickets which were made forth for the Service of the Tear one thoufand feven ' hundred and ten, by a voluntary Sidfcripiion of the Proprietors into the Capital Stock of the South Sea Com- ' pany ; and for raifing a Sum of Money to pay off fuch Debts and Incumbrances as are therein mentioned; ami for ' appropriating the Supplies granted in this Ssffwu of Parliament ; and to limit Times for Profecutions upon Ronds '■for exporting Cards and Dice) the faid new or additional Duties upon Houfes were made perpetual, for
