' fons, to the great Difcouragemeat of the Silk Manufadtures of this Kingdom, and the Lofs of his Ma- ' jelly's Revenue:' Therefore for preventing fuch Frauds and Abufes for the future, Be it enafted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and i'emp'oral, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled, and by the Authority of the fame. That all Velvets, Velvet;, wrought wrought Silks, and Silks mixed with any other Materials, (fuch Velvets, wrought Silks, and Silks mixed Silks, &c. tube ^^ith any other Materials, not being manufaftured in Great Britain, and fuch wrought Silks or Sil-ks mixed fokd betoreDc. j^g ^j.Qj.gjgjj^ not being prohibited to be worn therein) which fhall be imported into this Kingdom after Ciirtom-Trufe It the twenty-ninth Day oi Septe?nber one thoufand feven hundred and hfty-tlirec, fiiall, after the fame have ejcii End of the been entered at the Cuftom-houfe, and before they are difcharged by the Officers, and delivered into the I'i-ce. That from and after the faid twenty-ninth Day faid Goods to give of 5t?/)/cM/'«- every Perfon intending lo export any iuch Velvets, wrought Silks or Silks m.ixed v/ith any Off" 'f th*^ other Materials, as herein before are mentioned and defcribed, which Ihall hae been imported into this Cuftoms, when Kingdom after the faid twenty-ninth Day of September, fliall, before fuch Goods are fliipped in order to be theiame'wiU be exported, give Notice to the proper Officer or Officers to be appointed for that Purpofe by the refpedtive packed up 5 Commiffioners of the Cuftoms in Great Britain, when and where he will pack up the faid Goods in order to be exported, and the faid Commiflioners of theCiiiloms are hereby impowered and required to caufe and the Seals are fuch Officer or Officers to take care that fuch Seals, Stamps or Marks be taken off from every Piece fo to be then taken intended to be exported, without Fee or Reward ; and no Perlian Ihall be intitled to the Drawback allowed °"**' upon the Exportation of fuch Velvets, wrought Silks or Silks mixed as aforefaid, unlefs be fliall have given fuch Notice as herein before is dire£led, and until fuch Seals, Stamps or Marks fhall be taken off by the proper Officer or Officers as aforefaid. That from and after the twenty-ninth Day wrought Silks, of September one thoufand feven hundred and fifty-four, in cafe any Velvets, wrought Silks or Silks mixed ^'^t'thestTs'^'^'"^^ any other Materials (fuch Velvets, wrought Silks or Silks mixed with any other Materials, not being niav be feUed ■ manufadlured in Great Britain, and fuch wrought Silk or Silks mixed as aforefaid, not being prohibited to be worn therein) fhall be found in any Shop, Warehoufe or other Place whatfoever upon Land within this Kingdom, not being marked or fealed as herein before directed upon both Ends of every whole and intire Piece, or upon one End of every Remnant of fuch Velvet, wrought Silk or Silk mixed as aforefaid, the fame fliall be forfeited, and fliall and may be feized by any Officer or Officers of the Cuftoms, and fecured in fome or one of his Majefty's Warehoufes ; and fuch Officer or Officers is and are hereby indemnified and be fold. for fo doing; and all fuch Velvets, wrought Silks or Silks mixed as aforefaid, fo feized and iecured, fliall One Moiety to after Condemnation thereof in due Courfe of Law, be publickly fold to the beft Bidder; and one Moiety of the Crown, am'* {[^g Producc arifmg by tJie Sale of fuch Velvets, wrought Silks or Silks mixed as aforelaid, fhall be to the SWoi"anVthe ^fc of his Majefty, ills Heirs and Succeffors, and the other Moiety to the Officer or Officers who fliall Perion'in whofe feizc and fcciu'e the fame as aforefaid ; and the Perfon in vidiofe Cuftody or PolTeffion the Goods fo feized and Cufirody, &c. to fccurcd lliall be found, fhall alio for every fuch Offence forfeit the Sum of two hundred Pounds, to be reco- forfeitiool. yered and divided in manner herein after direilcd. And be it further enaiSted by the Authority aforefaid, That no Velvets, wrought Silks or Silks le^v.rd not to be niixed with any other Materials as aforefaid, which after the twenty-ninth Day of September' one thoufand Khtsd'tn feven hundred and fifty-four, fhall be feized and forfeited by virtue of this AiSl, or for any other Caufe of P'oifeiture, fliall be confumed or ufed in this Kingdom, but fliall be exported again, and not fold othcrwife than on Condition to be exported, and Ihall not be delivered out of the Warehoufe wherein the fame fhall have been fecured, until fufficient Security be given that the fame and every Part thereof fhall be exported, and not landed again in any Part of Great Britain.
