XIII. And be it further enaded by the Authority aforefaid, That the feveral Rates and Duties which ftiall be charged by virtue of this'Ad upon Fith brought from Scotland, or the Illands thereunto belonging, into England, Wales, or Berivick upon Tweed, as aforefaid, fnall be levied, charged, brought in, applied, ifliied and difpofed of to the fame Purpofes, and in the fame Proportions, as the Du- ties upon Salt and Rock Salt, and the Duties upon Red Herrings and White Herrings, are le- vied, charged, brought in, applied, ifllied and difpofed of by virtue of any Ad or Acts of Parlia- ment now in Force. XIV. And be it further enaded. That if any Perfon or Perfons do prefunie to counterfeit, rafe, or alter any Certificate or Cocquet, by this Ad direded to be made ; or ihall ufe any fuch Certificate or Cocquet, knowing the fame to be fo counterfeited, rafed or altered, fuch Perfon or Perfons dial] incur the Pains which are by Law inflicted on Perfons found guilty of Forgery. XV. And be it further enaded by the Authority aforefaid, That fo much of an Ad paffed in the fifth Year of the Reign of his prefent Majefty, intituled. An Jii for reviving the Duties on Salt, as re- lates to the Importation of White Herrings from Scotland into England, be, and is hereby repealed. XVI. And be it further enaded by the Authority aforefaid. That if any Perfon (hall falfcly make any Oath by this Ad direded to be made, and ftiall thereof be legally convided in any of his Aiajefty's Courts of Record in Great Britain, fuch Perfon fo guilty Ihall forfeit the Sum of two hundred Pounds, and be imprifoned for twelve Months. XVII. And be it further enadied by the Authority aforefaid, That the feveral Penalties and For- feitures in this Ad mentioned, ftiall and may be profecuted and determined by Bill, Plaint or ht- formation, in any of his Majefty's Courts of Record at Wcjlminfter, or in the Court of Exchequer in Scotland refpedively, wherein no Effoin, Protedion or Privilege, Wager of Law, or more than one Imparlance ftiall be allowed; and one Moiety of the faid Penalties and Forfeitures ftiall be to the Ulis of his Majefty, and the other Moiety to fuch Perfon or Perfons as will fue for or pro- fecute the fame. XVIII. And to the End that no Perfon in the Highlands of Scotland, or the remote Iflands thereunto belonging, may pretend to be or remain ignorant of thofe Regulations, which more immediately con- cern them ; Be it therefore further enaded by the Authority atorefaid. That the Trulfecs for the Fiih- cry and Manufactures of Scotland ftiall, as foon as may be, tranfmit one Copy of this Ad to each of the Minifters of the lisveral Parifties within the Synods of Argyle, Rofs, Murray, Sutherland 2nd Caitb- nefs and Orkney; and that each of the faid Minifters fhall, immediately after Divine Service, en the laft Sunday of the Month of Mciy in every Year, (or four fucce(rive Years, commencing with the Year one thoufand feven hundred and fifty-feven, publickly, audibly, and dKfindly read to his Parilhioners, in the Language beft underftood by them, the farmer Part of this Ad, from the beginning thereof to the conclufiun of the third enading Claufe ; and alfo that the Judges of Scotland (hall order the faid Part of this Ai. to be publickly, audibly, and diftindly read at the opening of each Circuit Court, to be held at Invcrara and L.verncfs every Year lor four Years fucccffively, beginning in the Year one thou- fand fevcn hundred and fifty-feven. XIX. And be it funher enaded by the Authority aforefaid. That if any Adion or Suit fliall be com- menced againft any Perfon or Perfons for any thing done in purfuance of this Act, the Defendant or Defendants in any fuch Ae'tion or Suit, may plead the General liTue, and give this x&, and the Spe- cial Matter in Evidence, at any Trial to be had thereupon ; and that the fame was done in purfuance, and by the Authority of this Ad: And if it (hall appear fo to have been done, the Jury (hall find for the Defendant or Defendants ; and if the Plaintiff or Plaintiifs ftiall be nonluited, or difcontinue his or their Oflicers of the Culloins and to this Afl:.
