' TTTHEREAS in this prefent year of our Lord, One thoufand fix hundred and ninety, about the time that the Coafts of this Kingdom were invaded by the French, the Lords and others !W of their Majefties moft Honourable Privy-Council, divers Lords, Gentlemen, and other
- good Subjects, being Magiftrates and Officers, or acting in purfuance of their Orders, did for their
- Majefties Service, and the Safety of the Kingdom, apprehended and imprifon feveral fufpedted per-
' fons, and did feize and ufe Horfes and Arms, and did caufe the greateft part of the Militia of this
- Kingdom to be raifed, continued and maintained, otherwife than is authorized by the Acts made in
- the Reign of King Charles the Second in that behalf, and to march, and to be quartered in divers
■* places upon that occafion : That thofe proceedings in that extraordinary Juncture, and the parties con- ' cerned therein may be Indemnified therefore; And for the preventing the Trouble and Charges which ' the faid good Subjects might be put to by the Profecution of their Majefties, their Heirs and Succef-
