A. D. 1762.

Act of this Session of Parliament, intituled, Land Tax; An Act for granting an Aid to his Majesty by a Land Tax to be raised in Great Britain for the Service of the Year one thousand seven hundred and sixty-three; and so much Money, if any such be, of the Tax thereby granted, as shall arise or remain after all the Loans or Exchequer Bills made or to be made on the same Act, and all the Interest, Premium, Rate and Charges thereon, and the Charges allowable thereby for raising the said Land Tax, should be satisfied, or Money sufficient that be reserved in the Exchequer to satisfy and discharge the same; the Monies coming into the Exchequer by Contributions for Annuities, and two Lotteries, granted by one other Act of this Session of Parliament,Annuity and Lottery Act intituled, An Act for granting to his Majesty several additional Duties upon Wines imported into this Kingdom, and certain Duties upon all Cyder and Perry; and for raising the Sum of three millions five hundred thousand Pounds, by way of Annuities and Lotteries, with the Sum of to be charged on the said Duties;


with the sum of 2000,000. l. charged on the Sinking Fund; and also the Sum of two millions out of such Monies as shall or may arise of the Surpluses, Excesses, or Overplus Monies, and other Revenues composing the Fund, cornmonly called The Sinking Fund, directed to be issued and applied by one other Act of this Session of Parliament, intituled, An Act for granting to his Majesty a certain Sum of Money out of the Sinking Fund, and for applying certain Monies remaining in the Exchequer for the Service of the Year one thousand seven hundred and sixty-three; and also the Sum of 47,120 l. 9s. 6.sd. Surplus remaining in the Exchequer, of the Duties on Beer and Ale; and also the Sum of forty-seven thousand one hundred and twenty Pounds nine Shillings and six Pence, remaining in the Receipt of the Exchequer, being the Surplus of the several Duties upon Beer and Ale, granted by an Act made in the first Year of his Majesty's Reign, after satisfying all Charges and Incumbrances thereupon, to the fifth Day of January one thoufand seven hundred and sixty-three; also the Surplus unapplied of the Sum of 20,000 l. granted in the last session, for Pay and Clothing of the unemdodied Militia; and also such Part of the Sum of twenty thousand Pounds granted to his Majesty in the last Session of Parliament, upon Account, towards defraying the Charge of the Pay of the Militia of that Part of Great Britain called England, when unembodied, and of the Cloathing of the Part of the said Militia then unembodied, for one Year, beginning the twenty fifth Day of March one thousand seven hundred and sixty-two, as shall remain in the Re- ceipt of the Exchequer, after the said Charges are satisfied by the said last mentioned Act made in this Session of Parliament, directed to be issued and applied; and the further sum od 1,800,000 l. granted by this Act, are appropriated as follows; and the further Sum of one million and eight hundred thousand Pounds by this Act granted, shall be further appropriated, and are hereby appropriated, for and towards the several uses and Purposes herein after expressed; that is to say, It is hereby enacted and declared by the Authority aforesaid, videlicet, 2,040,661 l.. 3s. 11. d. thereof towards Naval Services in general. That out of all or any the Aids or Supplies provided as aforesaid, there shall and may be issued and applied any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding two millions forty thousand six hundred and sixty-one Pounds three Shillings and eleven Pence, for or towards the Naval Services herein after particularly expressed; that is to say, For or towards Victuals, Wages, Wear and Tear of the Navy, and the Victualling thereof, performed and to be performed; and for or towards Sea Services in the Office of Ordnance, performed and to be performed; and for or towards defraying the Ordinary of his Masefty's Navy, and for Half-pay to Sea Officers; and for or towards maintaining four thousand two hundred and eighty-seven Marines; and for and towards the Buildings, Rebuildings and Repairs of his Majesty's Ships for the Year one thousand seven hundred and sixty-three.

3,000 l. for compleating the Hospital near Plymouth. VIII. And it is hereby also enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That out of all or any the Aids orSupplies aforesaid, there shall and may be issued and applied any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding three thousand Pounds, for completing the Works of the Hospital; for sick and wounded Seamen building near Plymouth.

10,000 l. upon Account to the Commissioners of Greenwich Hospital for Out Pensioners. IX. And it is hereby also enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That out of all or any the Aids or Supplies aforesaid, there shall and may be issued and applied any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding ten thousand Pounds, upon Account, to be applied by the Commissioners or Governors of the Royal Hospital for Seamen at Greenwich, for the Support and Relief of Seamen worn out and become decrepit in the Service of their Country, who shall not be provided for within the said Hospital.

204,319 l. for Charge of the Office of Land Ser-Service X. And it is hereby also enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That out of all or any the Aids or Supplies aforesaid, there shall and may be issued and applied any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding two hundred four thousand three hundred and twenty-nine Pounds, for the Charge of the Office of Ordnance for Land Service, for the Year one thousand seven hundred and sixty-three.

4,743,805 l. 13 s. 11 d. 1 q. for pay, &c. of the Land Forces in general; XI. And it is hereby also enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That out of all or any the Aids or Supplies aforesaid, there shall and may be issued and applied any Sum or Sums of Money not ex- ceeding four millions seven hundred forty-three thousand eight hundred and five Pounds thirteen Shillings and eleven Pence Farthing, for and towards maintaining his Majesty's Land Forces, and other Services herein after more particularly expressed; whereof 485,317 l. , 2s. 10d. for Charge of 56,360 effective Men, from 25 Dec. 1762 to 24 Apr. 1763 that is to say, any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding four hundred eighty-five thousand three hundred and seventeen Pounds two Shillings and ten Pence for defraying the Charge of fifty-six thousand three hundred and sixty effective Men, for Guards and Garrisons, and other his Majesty's Land Forces in Great Britain, Guernsey, and Jersey, including those in Germany, Portugal, and Belleisle, for one hundred and twenty-one Days, from the twenty-fifth Day of December one thousand seven hundred and sixty-two to the twenty- fourth Day of April one thousand seven hundred and sixty three, both Days inclusive, according to for their present Establishment, and for reducing their Numbers; 408,372 l. 13s. 4.d for Charge of 17,536 effective Men, including Invalids, for Guards and Garrisons, from 2 Apr, 1763 to 24 Dec, following; and any Sum or Sums not exceedingfour
