VILLAGE IN LATE SUMMER

Lips half-willing in a doorway.

Lips half-singing at a window.

Eyes half-dreaming in the walls.

Feet half-dancing in a kitchen.

Even the clocks half-yawn the hours

And the farmers make half-answers.
