Like his father he has devoted himself wholly to literature, beginning to publish verses in newspapers and magazines in 1879. His collected poems were published in 1892 under the title "Sylvan Lyrics and Other Verses." Mr. Hayne lives at Augusta, Georgia.]

WILLIAM HAMILTON HAYNE

O come to the meadow, with me,
For the lark is hovering high,
To bathe in the light of the sun
And the south winds wandering by!
