Banspati Singh. Raja of, Barah; born, 1834: connected with the House of Rewa; belongs to the clan of Baghel Rajputs and claims descent from Baghesh Deo of Gujara; in the Mutiny of 1857, was of great service to the British in maintaining order and in escorting remittances of revenue; with a force of 1,000 men he proceeded to the pargana of Khairagah, against a formidable band of rebels then holding out there; in recognition of this valuable service, the title of Raja was conferred on him in 1858. The estate comprises 170 villages in Allahabad, paying revenue of Rs. 45,956. Address: Barah, Allahabad.
