case of Dr. Brill's patient it is probable that a cessation of the

autoerotic indulgences may bring about the possibility of a

transference. Dr. Stern suggested that such patients, where possible,

should be kept under long treatment, when the narcissistic com- i j

ponents and the autoerotic ones also, might be displaced by j j

object love.
