S . C . 794) and the Americans with D isabilities Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. 12101 et seq.). ‘‘SEC. 76 5 . A UT H ORI Z ATION OF A P PROPRIATIONS. ‘‘ T here are authori z ed to be appropriated to carry out this subpart such sums as may be necessary for fiscal year 2009 and each of the five succeeding fiscal years. ‘ ‘ Subpart2—T ra nsi ti o n P ro g ra m s f or Stu de nts W it hI nte l le c tual D isabilities Into H igher E du - cation ‘‘SEC. 766. PURPOSE. ‘‘ I t is the purpose of this subpart to support model demonstra- tion programs that promote the successful transition of students with intellectual disabilities into higher education. ‘‘SEC. 767. M O D EL COMPREHENSI V E TRANSITION AND POSTSEC - ONDAR Y PRO G RAMS FOR STUDENTS W ITH INTELLECTUAL DISA B ILITIES. ‘‘(a) GRANTS A U T HO R IZED . — ‘‘(1) IN G ENERA L .— F rom amounts appropriated under sec- tion 7 6 9(a), the Secretary shall annually award grants, on a competitive basis, to institutions of higher education (or con- sortia of institutions of higher education), to enable the institu- tions or consortia to create or expand high quality, inclusive model comprehensive transition and postsecondary programs for students with intellectual disabilities. ‘‘(2) AD M INISTRATION.—The program under this section shall be administered by the office in the Department that administers other postsecondary education programs. ‘‘(3) DURATION O F GRANTS.—A grant under this section shall be awarded for a period of 5 years. ‘‘(b) A P PLI C ATION.—An institution of higher education (or a consortium) desiring a grant under this section shall submit an application to the Secretary at such time, in such manner, and containing such information as the Secretary may require. ‘‘(c) A W ARD B ASIS.—In awarding grants under this section, the Secretary shall— ‘‘(1) provide for an equitable geographic distribution of such grants; ‘‘(2) provide grant funds for model comprehensive transition and postsecondary programs for students with intellectual 20USC1 1 4 0 g. 20 USC 1140 f . 20 USC 1140 e . 20 USC 1140 d .
