(f) AM O U NT OF G RANTS.—Section 1 08 (a) of the Tribally C on - trolled College or U ni v ersity Assistance Act of 1 97 8(2 5 U.S.C. 1808(a)) is a m ended— (1) by redesignating paragraphs (1) and (2) as subpara- graphs (A) and ( B ), respectively, and indenting the subpara- graphs appropriately; (2) by striking ‘‘(a) E x cept as provided in section 111,’’ and inserting the following: ‘‘(a) R E Q UIREMENT.— ‘‘(1) I N GENERA L .—Except as provided in paragraph (2) and section 111,’’; (3) in paragraph (1) (as redesignated by paragraphs (1) and (2))— (A) in the matter preceding subparagraph (A) (as redesignated by paragraph (1))— (i) by striking ‘‘him’’ and inserting ‘‘the Secretary’’; and (ii) by striking ‘‘product of’’ and inserting ‘‘product obtained by multiplying’’; (B) in subparagraph (A) (as redesignated by paragraph (1)), by striking ‘‘section 2(a)(7)’’ and inserting ‘‘section 2(a)(8)’’; and (C) in subparagraph (B) (as redesignated by paragraph (1)), by striking ‘‘ $6 ,000,’’ and inserting ‘‘$8,000, as ad j usted annually for inflation.’’; and ( 4 ) by striking ‘‘except that no grant shall exceed the total cost of the education program provided by such college or university.’’ and inserting the following: ‘‘(2) E X CE P TION.—The amount of a grant under paragraph (1) shall not exceed an amount equal to the total cost of the education program provided by the applicable tribally controlled college or university.’’. (g) GENERAL P RO V ISIONS REAUT H ORIZATION.—Section 110(a) of the Tribally Controlled College or University Assistance Act of 1978 (25 U.S.C. 1810(a)) is amended— (1) in paragraphs (1), (2), (3), and (4), by striking ‘‘1999’’ and inserting ‘‘2009’’; (2) in paragraphs (1), (2), and (3), by striking ‘‘4 succeeding’’ and inserting ‘‘five succeeding’’; (3) in paragraph (2), by striking ‘‘$40,000,000’’ and inserting ‘‘such sums as may be necessary’’; (4) in paragraph (3), by striking ‘‘$10,000,000’’ and inserting ‘‘such sums as may be necessary’’; and (5) in paragraph (4), by striking ‘‘succeeding 4’’ and inserting ‘‘five succeeding’’. (h) ENDO W MENT PROGRAM REAUTHORIZATION.—Section 306(a) of the Tribally Controlled College or University Assistance Act of 1978 (25 U.S.C. 1836(a)) is amended— (1) by striking ‘‘1999’’ and inserting ‘‘2009’’; and (2) by striking ‘‘4 succeeding’’ and inserting ‘‘five suc- ceeding’’.
