Bc it enacted by the Senate and House of Represmmtives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the proper accounting- Cwdit i¤ M omcors, in settling and adjusting the accounts of F. V. Hayden, geologist §’““(f“ °f R v' in charge of tho survey of the Territories, are hereby directed to crodih y r ' who said F. V. Hayden with the sum of three thousand eight hundred and twenty-five dollars, on account of loss of that amount, in eighteen hundred and seventy-two, by highway robbery, committed on his clerk while traveling on stagofcoach between Virginia City, Montana., und Fort Hall, Idaho, bearing said sum of money from one division of said survey to the other ;· said amount having been lost: without any fault or neglect of the said F. Denny, late mujorin the Fifty-iirst Regiment of Indiana Volunteers, the pay and emoluments of a. major of infantry, from the thirtsicigh day of J uno, eighteen hundred and sixty-three, the date his commission was received at tha headquarters of the command to which he belonged, to the Eftoonth day of May, eighteen hundred and sixty-Evo, tho date of his muster-in as lieutenant-colonel, as if hu had been mustered in as major on tho date of the receipt of his commission, iirsb doducting whatever sum may have been paid said William N.
