Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United · Payment MAMS States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, Sm]];h_ and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to Alvis Smith, late of Company L, Second Arkansas Cavalry, out of any money appropriated, or which may hereafter be appropriated, for the pay of the Army, a sum equal to the pay and emoluments of a second lieutenant of cavalry, from the tenth of October, eighteen hundred and sixty-three, to the eighth of March, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, deducting whatever pay he may have received for that period as an enlisted man.
