That the sum of three hundred thousand dollars, or Subsistence of so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated, and may “*"”Y· be applied by the Commissary-General of Subsistence, prior to the first day of July, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, to the purchase of subsistence supplies intended for the posts supplied through the Upper Missouri, and ior other distant posts; which amount shall be deducted from the appropriations for subsistence of the Army for the next fiscal year. And this appropriation is hereby made available from the passage of this act. To pay the current expenses of operating the Des Moines Rapids DesMoinesRap- Canal on the Upper Mississippi River until July first, eighteen hundred ids C**¤**l· and seventy-eight, seven thousand five hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, the same to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of War. NAVY DEPARTMENT. To enable the Secretary of the Navy to pay certain indebtedness Labor at navy- incurred for labor at the following navy-yards in eighteen hundred y¤¤l¤· _, and seventy-seven, under the Bureau of Construction and Repair, and unpaid, as follows: ' At the navy-yard, Portsmouth, during February, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine dollars and eight cents. At the navy-yard, Portsmouth, during March, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, one thousand nine hundred and seventy-three dollars and forty-two cents. At the navy-yard, Portsmouth, during April, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, one thousand six hundred and five dollars and seventy- four cents. ‘ At the navy-yard, New-York, during February, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, twelve thousand one hundred and one dollars and forty- one cents. At the navy-yard, New-York, during March, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, six thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight dollars and seventy cents. At the navy-yard, League Island, during March, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, one thousand one hundred and eighty-five dollars and six cents. At the navy-yard, New London, for the month of March, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, three hundred and ten dollars. MARINE Cours. To pay the expenses of observations of the solar eclipse of July, Solar eclipse. eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, eight thousand dollars; and this amount shall be available until the completion of the work. To enable the Secretary of the Navy to print a set of watch and _Wat_ch and stastation bills at the Government Printing Olfce, nine hundred and fifty **°¤ blusdollars; being a deficiency for the fiscal year eighteen hundred and seventy-eight.
