Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to establish Addi§i<>¤¤}i ¤·id¤ range-lights near Fort McRae; to re-establish the Fort Barancas $;b§:,E§“t‘°“ °“’ ranges; to establish lighted beacons at or near Devil’s Point, Escambia ' Bay ; at or near the anchorage, in Santa Maria de Galvaez Bay; at or near the turn of the channel; and at Bay Point, Black-Water Bay; and that a day-beacon be placed to mark the shoals between the Anchorage and Blackwater Bay, Florida. The entire cost of which shall not exceed the sum of seventeen thousand two hundred and fifty dollars. Approved, July 26, 1886.

CHAP. 781.-An act making appropriations for the naval service for the nscal July 26, 1886. year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, and for otherpurposes. —-——-— Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums be, and Natal ¤}¢¤*i¢¤ *1* they are hereby, appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the Treas- P"’P“““°““· ury not otherwise appropriated, for the naval service of the Government for the year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, and for other purposes: rex or rms iuvx. Pay ¤f¤¤¤ NW1- For the pay of officers on sea—duty; officers on shore and other duty; 0m¤¤¤`¤» mmm: onicers on waiting orders; officers on the retired-list; Admira1’s and Vice- °°°‘ A Admiral’s secretaries; clerks to commandants of yards and stations; clerks to paymasters at yards and stations; inspections; receiving-ships and other vessels; extra pay to men re-enlisting under honorable discharge; pay of petty officers, seamen, landsmen, and boys, including men in the engineers’ force, and for the Coast Survey service and Fish Commission, seven thousand five hundred men and seven hundred and fifty boys, at the pay prescribed by law; in all, seven million dollars. PAY, BHSCELLANEOUS. For commission and interest; transportation of funds; exchange; Mi¤°•>U¤¤°°¤• mileage to officers while traveling under orders in the United States, °‘Y’°"°" and for actual personal expenses of officers while traveling abroad under orders, and for traveling expenses of apothecaries, yeomen, and civilian employees, and for actual and necessary traveling expenses of naval cadets while proceeding from their homes to the Naval Academy for examination and appointment as cadets; for rent and furniture of buildings and offices not in navyyards; expenses of courts-martial and courts of inquiry, boards of investigation, examining boards, with clerks' and witnesses! fees, and traveling expenses and costs; stationery and rccording; expenses of purchasing-paymastersf offices of the various cities, including clerks, furniture, fuel, stationery, and incidental expenses; newspapers and advertising; foreign postage; telegraphing, foreign and domestic; telephones; copying; care of library; mail and express wagons, ferriage, tolls, and livery and express fees; costs of suits; commissions, warrants, diplomas, and discharges; relief of vessels in distress; canal tolls and pilotage; recovery of valuables from shipwrecks; quarantine expenses; care and transportation of the dead; reports, professional investigation, cost of special instruction at home or abroad, including maintenance of students, and information from abroad, and the collection and classification thereof, and other necessary incidental expenses, two hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars.
