- s to demonstrate whether it is practicable to introduce its culture in
he Southern States as a profitable industry, seven thousand dollars, wo thousand dollars of which shall be immediately available. PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTION or VALUABLE snaps: For the purchase, Plggjjggn d‘g§,§$g‘§; xropagation, and distribution of valuable seeds, bulbs, trees, shrubs, mm, eee} D ·ines, cuttings, and plants; the employment of local and special agents, lerks. assistants, and other labor required, in the city of Washington nd elsewhere; transportation, paper, twine, gum, printing, postal ards, and all necessary material and repairs for putting up and disributing the same, and to be distributed in localities adapted to their ,05 eggs tedapted to ulture, two hundred and seventy thousand dollars, of which amount C8 "e °' not more than forty-three thousand dollars shall be expended for labor n the city of Virashington, District of Columbia, of which sum five housand dollars shall be immediately available, and not less than one nundred and eighty thousand dollars shall be allotted for Congressional listribution. And the Secretary of Agriculture is authorized to exp. nd for labor n the city of‘VVashington during the present iiscal year, out of the um appropriated for seeds for nineteen hundred and one, a total .n1ount not exceeding thirty-three thousand dollars. And the Secretary of Agriculture is hereby directed to expend the aid sum, as nearly as practicable, in the purchase and distribution of ucb valuable seeds, bulbs, trees, shrubs, vines, cuttings, and plants, he best he can obtain at public or private sale, and such as shall be uitable for the respective localities to which the same are to be apporioned, and in which same are to be distributed as hereinafter stated, nd such seed so purchased shall include 'a variety of vegetable and lower seeds, suitable for planting and culture in the various sections of he United States.
