A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, By Proclamations, the President of the United States F°$$“‘;*§i;‘,h0?“°“°““ has, at various times, created certain National Forests within the State Pmi¤¤>1e of Idaho· and , , WHEREAS, in order to provide for a pro er adjustment of the claims of the State to lands within said Nationalp Forests, in satisfaction of its common school grant, a memorandum of agreement was entered into under date of October 4, 1911, between the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and the Govemor of the State of Idaho, whereby it was agreed that the said State should relinquish all its title or claim un er its §ant in aid of common schools to lands · included within the said ational Forests (prior to survey, being the whole or parts of certain sections sixteen an thirty-six and be allowed to select other lands equivalent in acreaige and value along and within the boundaries of said National orests in such position that, when eliminated therefrom, all of said selected lands will lie outside the new exterior boundaries of the National Forests; and WHEREAS, It appears that the public interests would be promoted gy modifying the proclamations affecting the Kaniksu National orest, so as to exclude the areas first hereinafter described, and also so as to allow the State of Idaho, in furtherance of the above mentioned agreement, to make selections of the lands agreed upon for selection, and hereinafter described, as indemnity m satisfaction of the aforesaid portions of its common school grant; _ Now, therefore, I CALVIN COOLIDGE, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by the Act of Congress (approved June fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety- seven, entitl "An Act Making appropriations for sundry civil ex enses of the Government for the fiscal year ending Jime thirtieth, eiglhteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for other pur oses," do roclaim that the botmdaries ofg the Kaniksu National lilorest are Dmdwom herebymodified to exclude therefrom the following areas, to wit: In . 60 N., R. 3 W., Sec. 16; In T. 61 N., R. 3 W., Sec. 16; In T. 62 N., R. 3 W., Sec. 16, and that part of Sec. 36 west of the hydrographic divide between the Kootenai and Priest Rivers; s In . 63 N., R. 3 W., that part of Sec. 16 west of the hydrographic divide between the Kootenai and Priest Rivers, and all Sec. 36; · In T. 60 N., R. 4 W., Sec. 36; In T. 61 N., R. 4 W., Lots 1, 2. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and NW}4 SWM Sec. 16, and all Sec. 36; In T. 62 N., R. 4 W., Sec. 36; In T. 63 N., R. 4 W., Secs. 16 and 36;
