Chap. LXVI.An Act making appropriation for certain improvements in the Territory of Iowa.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,Appropriations, how to be expended. That the following sums of money be, and they are hereby, appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of War.

Dubuque harbor, provided it will make a permanent improvement.For the improvement of the harbor at the town of Dubuque, seven thousand five hundred dollars; Provided, upon due examination and survey, under the direction of the Secretary of War, it shall appear that a permanent improvement can be accomplished and completed for this amount, so as to admit the landing of steamers of the largest class navigating the river at the town of Dubuque at all seasons of the year.

Bridges on the ‘Agency’ road.For the construction and keeping in repair bridges on the “Agency” road, (so called,) laid out by the United States in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, five thousand dollars.

Bridges on military road from Dubuque to Missouri.For the construction and keeping in repair bridges on the Military road, (so called,) from Dubuque to the northern boundary of the State of Missouri, which road was laid out by the United States in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, ten thousand dollars.

Chap. LXVII.An Act making appropriations for certain improvements in the Territory of Florida.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,To be expended under direction of Secretary of War. That the following sums be, and they are hereby appropriated for improvements in the Territory of Florida, to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of War, to wit:

Choctawhatchie and Holmes rivers.For removal of obstructions to the navigation of the rivers Choctawhatchie, and Holmes, ten thousand dollars;

Survey for railroad.For survey of routes for a railroad across the peninsula of Florida, three thousand dollars;

Connecting Indian river and Mosquito lagoon.For connecting the waters of Indian river and Mosquito lagoon, at the Haulover, one thousand five hundred dollars;

St. Mark’s river.For removal of obstructions in the navigation of the river St. Mark’s, above its confluence with the Wakulla river, two thousand five hundred dollars.

Chap. LXVIII.An Act to provide for the erection of a marine hospital at Key West, in the Territory of Florida.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,To be expended under direction of Sec. of Treasury.
Proviso.
That the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars be, and is hereby appropriated for the erection and furnishing of a marine hospital at Key West, to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of the Treasury: Provided, That the said Secretary shall be able to cause a suitable hospital to be erected, and properly furnished for the amount hereby appropriated.
